Writers: Please edit your pieces before sending. If I do find an error, but still want to post your piece, I will ask you to correct before publication. I want clean work. I don’t mind sex scenes as long as they aren’t porn. Porn leaves a taste in the mouth I don’t enjoy. I want thought provoking pieces, not rants.

Artists and Photographers: I am always looking for more artwork and photography. I like naked bodies but since I don’t want to restrict viewers, please do not send pictures of people who aren’t wearing clothing. Naked animals are fine.

Take a look through the pages. I publish a wide variety of work. It just depends on what really slaps me in the face or whispers across my neck.

S&V has moved forward to print only. Work is no longer published daily online. All subs are considered for print.

Please do not send originals unless we have discussed it first. I cannot mail back every submission I receive. If you do have an email address, please include it with the submission so that I may shoot you a note and let you know I received your work. I will respond within two weeks of receiving the submission.

All submissions should be no larger than 8 1/2″ by 11″ so that I can scan them if needed.

Bergamot – $5 per published piece
ROOTS – $5 per published flash, $15 per published short fiction
Cover art – $20 per published piece

**You may also request copies of the zine instead of payment. 2 copies per $5 payment.

**All contributors receiving monetary payment MUST fill out a W-9. You will receive a 1099 at the end of the year. I will mail the W-9 to you with a stamped return envelope. I cannot issue payment until the W-9 has been returned.

Simultaneous subs are fine, just let me know if it has been accepted elsewhere.

Reprints are fine so long as it wasn’t within the past six months.

I started this site to feature underground writers whose work I appreciate. I have always been a strong supporter of the DIY culture and will continue be a strong supporter by making S&V available to all at a zero to low cost. I think writers need a platform which isn’t always available in our current lit environment so I want to offer that platform to them.
