Civil Unrest by Melanie Browne

We found
a ‘wasp nest’
in the dim
light

I went
to inspect &
found it had
long ago
been abandoned
no wasps
in this hive

but these insects
were quite remarkable
as they had named
their humble abode

‘Kong’and when I
held it to my ear
I heard
turbines instead of

buzzing. I looked
inside hoping to
see a giant ape
but found a
couple of
live oak

leaves. I never
did figure out
what all that
commotion
was about
