Two Pieces by Sarah Ahmad

Last lines

I still see the light
alluding to the last downpour

Waking up in the middle
of
outrageous riots

Dramatics are short on lightening
and the clouds are suffering in many ways

It is all in the end
when a silver lining
wreaks havoc on the tearful.

Discharged

One of the things
that I’ve missed
Ability to hear
and place
a perfect note

Descending from the armed hero

Composed without the skill of music

Convincing the world
to hear the song

When it’s just a knock on the door

Ability to hear people’s speech
To see the magic of labour

What reason could be for this devised suffering?

The lack of society’s withdrawal from this profession.
